Our story

Built by people who worked inside the sector

BFS SozialFinanz AG began as a small research initiative among former administrators of care institutions and social service organisations in North Rhine-Westphalia. Time and again, we saw the same challenge: skilled, dedicated staff being asked to interpret funding rules, reporting requirements, and budgeting frameworks with little formal financial training.

What started as internal training notes grew into a publicly available resource. Today, sozialfinanz.ltd exists to make that same information available to anyone working in or around the social and healthcare sector, free of charge.

We are based in Köln, Germany, and our editorial team maintains close contact with practitioners across residential care, outpatient services, and community health organisations to keep our material grounded and relevant.

What guides us

Our principles

Independence

We are not affiliated with any bank, insurer, or funding body. Our content is not sponsored by financial product providers.

Clarity over jargon

We write for administrators and care professionals, not accountants — so every explanation aims to be understandable on a first read.

Sector-specific focus

General finance sites rarely address the realities of social and healthcare funding. We focus on this sector exclusively.

No paid services

This website does not sell financial products, subscriptions, or advisory contracts. Everything here is published for information only.

Kept current

Regulations and funding structures change. We review our published material regularly and note when pages were last updated.

Open to feedback

If something is unclear or out of date, we want to hear about it. Reach out any time through our contact page.
